About
BetterPlanet.org was founded by Nicole Martinez in 2000 with the mission to apply her software development experience to projects that make the world better. Through the experiences learned, this mission grew into experimenting with how to use the exponential reciprocity power of the internet to solve world problems. (This was the time of Netscape Navigator, Mosaic, and Infopath - way back in the day).
Story spoiler alert!! We figured out how to harness this power - evil social media bots do this today.
But the happy outcome is that we learned that the technology piece was only half the story.
We didn’t realize the other half of the story was in Advertising, Marketing, Brand… better known today as “Agency”. We hadn’t worked in this direction because we thought tricking people by using their emotions to make them spend was evil. However, guess what? We now know we shouldn’t judge.
What if we mix together Advertising, Marketing, & Brand with our Engineering work to actually make the planet better instead of tricking people to buy stuff? What if we use these same sentiments for good - at scale? Then we can add significant betterment to our planet.
How you might wonder? Easy, just direct the engagement created from all the attention grabbing commercials, beautiful ad campaigns, riveting documentaries, trend setting clothes, all of it - direct the traffic to outcomes that makes the planet better - not worse.
Easy - We can work together to change the narrative with our creative power!
BetterPlanet Co op was founded in 2023, as a NonProfit 501c3, because it’s time to take actionable next steps to create the planet we want as a collaborative creative force!
